Product Review: ADVERTISE F*R*E*E FOR LIFE

Advertise Free For Life caught my eye recently. I thought - That sounds too good to be true. And after looking into it - I have to say I am impressed.

I joined and took the upgrades - I figured, they offer a money back guarantee so why not..? You are not in any way required to take the upgrades to get the benefits of the site. They do multiply the benefits, I have found.

It is a really neat and clean site, easy on the eyes and the video showing how to use it was terrific.

Inside the site, you create links and ads--the links you simply enter any URL links you use into the generator and it transforms them into cloaked links for you. I set up a ton of affiliate products that I market and got unique links for each one.
You create ads for anything you want to promote using the Advertise Free For Life Ad Generator, which is very easy to use. You can create as many links and as many ads as you like. And they are organized in a logical way--links are displayed in the order you create them but also your 5 most recent links appear on the main page for quick reference. Also, since the link generator is the tool you'll use most, it is also right at the top of the main page when you login. Very smart!

After you've created at least 1 link and 1 ad you can start to generate traffic. Just use and promote the new Advertise Free For Life link instead of the original source link you had. Every time the Advertise Free For Life link is clicked, the page loads followed by a cool slide-up ad window at the bottom. It displays an ad PLUS an image with your affiliate link that goes back to Advertise Free For Life. So if anyone clicks the Advertise Free For Life image they see the site, and if they signup they become your referral. I thought this was great because it builds your list, referrals and potential income while you are out promoting the things you would have anyway.

Now every time the ad window displays (your Advertise Free For Life links get clicked) you earn credits that get YOUR ad displayed in the ad windows when other members' links get clicked. So the more clicks, the more times your ads get displayed.

And this works virally--meaning as you make referrals into Advertise Free For Life (either by promoting it or just using it and visitors click the Advertise Free For Life image on the ad window to join) you also earn ad credits on THEIR link clicks. And this works up to 5 levels deep. So you can create a massive amount of free ad views and web traffic by referring others to Advertise Free For Life also.

I didn't get to test the full effect of a big downline yet (I just got the tool) but I can tell you the rest of the site works exactly as stated--my links got clicked, I earned credits, and my ads got displayed. Advertise Free For Life even tracked my results so I know how many clicks and how many ad displays. That was an impressive unadvertised extra feature.

There is one more benefit and feature which might be the best of them all--downline emailing. You can email your downline with offers, promotions, or whatever you like, and here is where Advertise Free For Life really shines. They took time to make the emailing often enough that it's valuable as a user, but no so often that it's a burden to your downline. But the best part about this feature (and actually the credit earning too) is that it tells you exactly how long until you can mail again. THE TOP LEVEL IS WHERE TO BE FOR SERIOUS MARKETERS - A GUARANTEED 3000 MEMBER MAIL OUT COMES WITH THE PACKAGE... Whoa!

Overall I have to say I am impressed with Advertise Free For Life. It is simple yet powerful, and delivers on its promises. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to increase traffic and advertising.

See it and join here: (I negotiated to give anyone that joins through my link instant GOLD membership, but this is not forever, so make haste)

Five Grammatical Errors that Make You Look Dumb

Five Grammatical Errors that
Make You Look Dumb | Copyblogger
by Brian Clark

One thing blogging and good copywriting share is a conversational style, and that means it’s fine to fracture the occasional rule of proper grammar in order to communicate effectively. Both bloggers and copywriters routinely end sentences with prepositions, dangle a modifier in a purely technical sense, or make liberal use of the ellipsis when an EM dash is the correct choice—all in order to write in the way people actually speak.

But there are other mistakes that can detract from your credibility. While we all hope what we have to say is more important than some silly grammatical error, the truth is some people will not subscribe or link to your blog if you make dumb mistakes when you write, and buying from you will be out of the question.

Here are five mistakes to avoid when blogging and writing web copy.

1. Your vs. You’re
This one drives me insane, and it’s become extremely common among bloggers. All it takes to avoid this error is to take a second and think about what you’re trying to say.

“Your” is a possessive pronoun, as in “your car” or “your blog.” “You’re” is a contraction for “you are,” as in “you’re screwing up your writing by using your when you really mean you are.”

2. It’s vs. Its
This is another common mistake. It’s also easily avoided by thinking through what you’re trying to say.

“It’s” is a contraction of “it is” or “it has.” “Its” is a possessive pronoun, as in “this blog has lost its mojo.” Here’s an easy rule of thumb—repeat your sentence out loud using “it is” instead. If that sounds goofy, “its” is likely the correct choice.

3. There vs. Their
This one seems to trip up everyone occasionally, often as a pure typo. Make sure to watch for it when you proofread.

“There” is used many ways, including as a reference to a place (“let’s go there”) or as a pronoun (“there is no hope”). “Their” is a plural possessive pronoun, as in “their bags” or “their opinions.” Always do the “that’s ours!” test—are you talking about more than one person and something that they possess? If so, “their” will get you there.

4. Affect vs. Effect
To this day I have to pause and mentally sort this one out in order to get it right. As with any of the other common mistakes people make when writing, it’s taking that moment to get it right that makes the difference.

“Affect” is a verb, as in “Your ability to communicate clearly will affect your income immensely.” “Effect” is a noun, as in “The effect of a parent’s low income on a child’s future is well documented.” By thinking in terms of “the effect,” you can usually sort out which is which, because you can’t stick a “the” in front of a verb. While some people do use “effect” as a verb (“a strategy to effect a settlement”), they are usually lawyers, and you should therefore ignore them if you want to write like a human.

5. The Dangling Participle
The dangling participle may be the most egregious of the most common writing mistakes. Not only will this error damage the flow of your writing, it can also make it impossible for someone to understand what you’re trying to say.

Check out these two examples from Tom Sant’s book Persuasive Business Proposals:

After rotting in the cellar for weeks, my brother brought up some oranges.

Uhh… keep your decomposing brother away from me!

Featuring plug-in circuit boards, we can strongly endorse this server’s flexibility and growth potential.

Hmmm… robotic copy written by people embedded with circuit boards. Makes sense.

The problem with both of the above is that the participial phrase that begins the sentence is not intended to modify what follows next in the sentence. However, readers mentally expect it to work that way, so your opening phrase should always modify what immediately follows. If it doesn’t, you’ve left the participle dangling, as well as your readers.

P.S. You may find it amusing to know that I, like David Ogilvy, have never learned the formal rules of grammar. I learned to write by reading obsessively at an early age, but when it came time to learn the “rules,” I tuned out. If you show me an incorrect sentence, I can fix it, but if I need to know the technical reason why it was wrong in the first place, I go ask my wife.

9 Proven Headline Formulas That Sell Like Crazy

9 Proven Headline Formulas
That Sell Like Crazy
by Dean Rieck

You can write a headline in an infinite number of ways. However, certain types of headlines have proven themselves repeatedly for many years. By following the “formula” of these headlines, you can give yourself an edge when you are serious about persuading someone to read and respond to your copy.

The following 9 headline formulas are some of the easiest to write and the most powerful. When it comes time to write a headline, try one of these first. At the very least, this can give you a creative jumping off point to write a headline that works.

1. Say it simply and directly.
The direct headline should be used far more often than it is. No cleverness. No jokes. No wordplay. The direct headline gets right to the point. It works particularly well with strong offers, recognized brand names, and product or service types with which the reader is familiar.

2. State the big benefit.
One of the first techniques you should always explore is transforming your major benefit into a headline. After all, your number one selling point should be up front. It stands the best chance of selecting the right audience and preparing them to respond. Plus, if they read nothing else, they have at least seen the best selling point you have to offer. If you have trouble writing this kind of headline, it’s a sure sign you need to think a bit more about your product or service.

3. Announce exciting news.
People read newspapers and magazines because they love news. It’s just basic human nature. We’re curious. We not only want to know, we need to know. Casting your headline in a way that suggests news, rather than advertising, can have the same powerful appeal of a feature story in the morning paper. An important note: the product or service doesn’t necessarily have to be newly created to qualify as news. It merely has to be news to your reader.

At Last, American Scientists Have Created the Perfect Alternative to a Mined Diamond!

4. Appeal to the “how-to” instinct.
The how-to headline appeals to the need most of us have to improve ourselves or our lives in some way. The secret here is to focus on a need or want and promise to fulfill that need or want. Be careful, though. The how-to must highlight the benefit or final result, not the process itself. Look at this example:

How to make money working from home with your PC.
Suppose instead it read, “How to start a full-time computer business in your home.” This misses the point, doesn’t it? It sounds like a lot of work. It says nothing about the real motivator, which is using a computer you already own to make money easily. To write a how-to headline, begin with the words “How to” or “How” then immediately fill in the benefit.

How to stop smoking in 30 days … or your money back.
How You Can Profit From the 3 Greatest Service Businesses of the Decade!
How to do Central America on $17 a day.

5. Pose a provocative question.
Asking a question directly involves your reader. However, your question cannot be random or clever. It must relate directly and clearly to the major benefit of the product. It must also prod the reader to answer “yes” or at least “I’m not sure, but I want to know more.”

6. Bark a command.
Sales copy often falls flat because it fails to tell the reader what to do. This headline type allows you to be direct, provide a benefit, and take a commanding posture simultaneously. It’s not conversational, it’s dictatorial — but in an acceptable way that readers have come to expect in clear writing.

7. Offer useful information.
Let me clue you in on a little secret. Most people don’t want information. I know you’ve always been taught otherwise, but it’s true. People are drowning in facts. What people really want is a sense of order and predictability in their lives. We want to feel a sense of power over our world. Therefore, we seek out the secrets, tips, hints, laws, rules, and systems that promise to help us gain control and make sense of things. Notice how these headlines promise information that does just this.

THE 20 MOST IMPORTANT STEPS YOU CAN TAKE TO LIVE LONGER.
FREE. The best kept secrets in America.
Free brochure shows you how to end your money worries for good.

8. Relay an honest, enthusiastic testimonial.
A testimonial headline can do two things for you. First, it presents your reader with a third party endorsement of your product or service. Second, it capitalizes on the fact that people like to know what other people say.

“Quite simply, the finest design software ever released.”
“This diet program worked for me. It can work for you, too!”
“It’s the first book on personal finance that really made sense to me.”
A variation of this strategy is to write a headline in the first person and put quotation marks around it. This “virtual testimonial” gives you a more interesting headline and improves readership.

9. Authenticate your proposition with a little something extra.
People distrust sales copy. And for good reason. A lot of it proves inaccurate or downright dishonest. To cut through this distrust, you can add a little something extra to your headline that seems out of place, yet rings true. Look at the following headlines and notice how the words “Ohio man,” “Obsolete,” and “Frustrated bartender” stand out. Their specificity or quirkiness adds a truthful aura that traditional copy could never achieve.

Ohio man has 21-year tested formula to create multimillion dollar business from scratch, without bank loans, venture capitalists or selling stock.
Small Company’s New Golf Ball Flies Too Far; Could Obsolete Many Golf Courses.
Frustrated bartender develops incredible device to clean and disinfect your entire home…
There are many, many other ways to write a headline. Whatever strategy you choose, don’t make a decision too quickly. Take time to brainstorm. Write dozens or even hundreds of headlines. You never know exactly what you want to say before you say it, so giving yourself plenty of choices is the surest way to arrive at the best, most powerful headline.

Establishing Trust – How to Build Relationships and Make Them Work for you

“You don’t have to like your banker, you just have to trust him”. I read this quote of Honore Balzac in an article on the web and thought it would be perfect to start an article on trust. Trust is the key to building relationships even today. Balzac, a French writer, was born in 1799. Some things don’t change!

Watching Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, AIG, Citibank and Bank of America, it is hard to trust banks and the financial industry as a whole today. And that feeling of distrust pervades the business environment today and affects the relationships you are trying to build when you network.

The dictionary defines trust as “assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something”. In his book, "Endless Referrals", Bob Berg says that people do business with people they “know, like and trust.”

So if the people you network with are not sure about trusting you, what can you do to earn their trust?

Establishing trust is at the heart of relationship building and that is what networking is all about. Here are three important steps to help you build trusting relationships.

The first step in building the relationship is to listen to the other person.. It is imperative that you clearly understanding his/her needs. As simple as this sounds, it is often difficult for people to be quiet long enough for the other person to say what he/she has to say.

The second step in building a positive relationship with someone is to adjust your communication style to that person’s style. People tend to trust people who are more like themselves so it is important to adapt your style to theirs.

If you are speaking with someone who is very goal oriented and competitive the person won’t waste time with small talk. He/she will want to get straight to business. People with this style are in a hurry and won’t like it if you slow them down. Networking with them will be very different than networking with someone who is a people person and loves to talk.

Finally it is most important that you deliver on your promises. Once you are clear on the person’s needs and make a promise to deliver something, be sure to fulfill that commitment on time every time. Follow the lead of Howard Schultz, chairman of Starbucks who says in his book "Pour Your Heart Into It": “Every step of the way, I made a point to under promise and over deliver. In the long run, that’s the only way to ensure security in any job.”

In the current environment gaining the trust of people can be more difficult. In spite of the current cynicism you can still build your network through steady consistent networking and adhering to these three steps: listen carefully, notice and adjust to the other person’s communication style and deliver on your promises.

How To Be Happy

How to Be Happy

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

So happiness - isn't that the thing that all of us strive to find and keep? Nobody is happy all of the time, but some people are definitely more fulfilled than others. Studies on what makes people happy reveal that it doesn't have much to do with material goods or high achievement; it seems to whittle down to your outlook on life, and the quality of your relationships with the people around you.

Steps

  1. Be optimistic. In the 1970s, researchers followed people who'd won the lottery and found that a year after they'd hit the jackpot, they were no happier than the people who didn't. They called it hedonic adaptation, which suggests that we each have a baseline level of happiness. No matter what happens, good or bad, the effect on our happiness is only temporary and we tend to rebound to our baseline level. Some people have a higher baseline happiness level than others, and that can be attributed in part to genetics, but it's also largely influenced by how you think.[1] So while the remainder of this article will help boost your happiness, only improving your attitude towards life will increase your happiness permanently. Here are some excellent starting points for doing that:

  2. Follow your gut. In one study, two groups of people were asked to pick out a poster to take home. One group was asked to analyze their decision carefully, weighing the pros and cons, and the other group was told to listen to their gut. Two weeks later, the group that followed their gut was happier with their posters than the group that analyzed their decisions.[2] Now, some of our decisions are more crucial than picking out posters, but by the time you're poring over your choice, the options you're weighing are probably very similar, and the difference will only temporarily affect your happiness. So next time you have a decision to make, and you're down to two or three options, just pick the one that feels right, and go with it.

  3. Make enough money to meet your basic needs: food, shelter, and clothing. In the US, that magic number is $40,000 a year. Any money you make beyond that will have negligible effects on your happiness. Remember the lottery winners mentioned earlier? Oodles of money didn't make them any happier, and it won't make you any happier. Once you make enough money to support your basic needs, your happiness is not significantly affected by how much money you make, but by your level of optimism.[3]
    • Your comfort may increase with your salary, but comfort isn't what makes people happy. It makes people bored. That's why it's important to push beyond your comfort zone to fuel your growth as a person.
    • Don't assume you're the exception, as in "Sure they didn't use their lottery money wisely, but if I won it, I'm spend it differently, and it'd definitely make me happier." Part of the reason many people are unhappy is because they don't think research-based advice about happiness applies to them, and they continue chasing more money and achievement and material goods in vain.[4]

  4. Stay close to friends and family. We live in a mobile society, where people follow jobs around the country and sometimes around the world. We do this because we think increases in salary will make us happier, but the fact is that our relationships with our friends and family have a far greater impact on our happiness than our jobs do. So next time you think about relocating, consider that you'd need a salary increase of over $100,000 USD to compensate for the loss of happiness you'd have from moving away from your friends and family.[5] But if your relationships with your family and friends are unhealthy or nonexistent, and you are bent on moving, choose a location where you'll be making about the same amount of money as everyone else; according to research, people feel more financially secure (and happier) when they're on similar financial footing as the people around them, regardless of what that footing is.[6]
  5. Stop expecting your job to make you happy. Many people expect the right job or the right career to dramatically change their level of happiness, but happiness research makes it clear that your level of optimism and the quality of your relationships eclipse the satisfaction you gain from your job.[7] If you have a positive outlook, you'll make the best of any job, and if you have good relationships with people, you won't depend on your job to give your life a greater sense of meaning. You'll find it in your interactions with the people you care about. Now that doesn't mean you shouldn't aspire towards a job that'll make you happier; it means you should understand that the capacity of your job to make you happy is quite small in comparison to you outlook on life and your relationships with people.
  6. Engage in making the little moments special: Research indicates that when you smile, whether you feel happy or not, your mood will be elevated. When we smile at others, we pass on our mood to to the people we smile at. With this in mind, it is important to consider the implications for happiness that the very act of smiling at another in passing has on not only our psyche, but that of the larger good. More importantly, when we smile at another, it shouldn't be with the expectation of having a smile in return. Sometimes the people we are smiling at who don't return the gesture may be the ones who need the smile the most. Just the act of doing something positive -- sharing a smile -- is enough to send our endorphins in the right direction, regardless of the response.
  7. Keep yourself preoccupied with healthy people, healthy places, and healthy activities. Healthy environments include the local gym, the library and book stores, museums and cultural places. Making good decisions for oneself has significant implications for the eventual outcome of happiness.
  8. Consider an anti-depressant: If you are seriously ill and have been thinking about taking your own life or have been seriously depressed for some time, an anti-depressant might be beneficial in returning your life to a healthy balance. Anti-depressants could also be taken in conjunction with herbal medicines, although medical advice should be sought in these cases. Saint John's Wort is an herbal medicine that might help alleviate some symptoms, but should be used cautiously, due to potential adverse impacts. B-100 vitamins are another natural way to elevate the mood, and should be considered as a daily supplement for better overall health.
  9. See the best in others: When we strive to look at the best in others, we end up seeing the best in ourselves. Shortcomings in others can be met with compassion and understanding, which removes any resentment or disdain that might otherwise surface. When we look at others with a healthy sense of acceptance, love, and compassion, we find that our moods naturally elevate to a higher level of happiness. Author of "Wealth" Kirby Thibeault suggests that we see what we feel and think. When we see the beauty in all others, the beauty within ourselves becomes more apparent.

Tips

  • Just because something seems to make other people happy doesn't mean that it really does. People are very good at pretending they're happy, especially when they've invested so much into the things that are supposed to make them happy; it's hard to admit that you've been placing all your eggs in the wrong basket.
  • Sport. It makes you healthy and boosts your self-esteem. It also gives you endorphins (hormones of happiness).
  • Hobby. Have a hobby. This could be from playing a guitar to collecting stamps.
  • Self-actualization, goal, meaning. Have goals in life, evolve as a personality, have a purpose.
  • Helping someone else is a good way to feel better. It reminds you that things could be worse, and it gives you something to take satisfaction and pride in. Look for opportunities to make someone elses life better, and you end up making your own better at the same time.

Warnings

  • Happy people aren't happy all the time. Everyone has times when they feel sad, frustrated, guilty, angry and so on. Happy people are just better at bouncing back to a state of contentedness. We may all feel negative at some moment in our lives, but try to bounce back and live in the moment, and be content with everything you do.
  • Sometimes unhappiness can be caused by malnutrition or sickness. Make sure you're getting all the essential vitamins and minerals and eating well.
  • Large amounts of alcohol can cause sickness, coma, or, in some cases, death. Long term use of alcohol can be detrimental to the liver.
  • Problems with blood sugar can cause inner frustration and unhappiness. A healthy diet will absolutely contribute to overall mental well being, which allows one to feel happy more often.

Mailing List for Affiliate Marketers

Mailing List for Affiliate Marketers

If you are an affiliate marketer who wants to make a comfortable living from referring your prospects to other people’s product or service for decent commissions, then you must consider building your own mailing list.

Building your mailing list of hungry prospects can be one of the best investments you will ever make, as it is time and effort worth spending on. When you strike on a Joint Venture and have a new product or service to endorse, you can look no further than your own mailing list.

Granted, that most affiliates, as in more than 90 percent of them, are not making money from affiliate programs, but this often results from the same amount of effort focused on least effective methods.

While having your own mailing list is, by a long mile, not the only effective affiliate marketing method, you can make affiliate sales very quickly even in the next few hours after sending a sales message, provided that your mailing list is huge and responsive.

This is often true, because owning your own mailing list for you to endorse products and services to is one of the fastest-producing results, beating other affiliate marketing methods imaginable.

In a nutshell, the affiliate marketer who gets ahead of the pack is the one who owns a huge and responsive mailing list of prospects.

Habits On The Road To Success

Habits On The Road To Success
By PV Reymond on Aug 19, 2009

Setting your sights on accomplishing your goals is the first step you should take. Then, train yourself to do first things first. Develop the habit of working at the first thing on your list and not moving on until it is done. That habit will be the most important thing. Get things done.

Don’t worry about what comes next until that first goal, for the moment, is out of the way. Going through your list of steps one at a time leads you along the path smoothly and you will reach the end when everything has been done and your success is achieved.

You’ve got your goals set and decided you will succeed. Focus on that – ‘I will’. You will succeed. Your goals will be reached. Your life will straighten out and become what you want of it. Concentrate on that ‘will’.

Change your thinking to make your life work and set each step up as what has to be done, right now. Make it a habit to see that goal as the most important thing until it is finished. Other steps may be important, but they come later and can be thought of then. Your goal at the moment is to complete one step.

Each step you accomplish is another success in your life. You once thought of yourself as a failure? That’s gone. Each little step you manage to complete toward your goal is a success and you are a winner. Do it, now, and go on to the next step.

You can manage all this. The only price that needs to be paid comes out as effort, not money. You’ve got the desire, done the learning and are picking up even more as you go along. Get busy.

Make a list of what needs to be done and get started working on it. Just keep your mind open. Absorb all the knowledge you can, be open-minded. What you learn today might not help right away, but it could tomorrow or next week.

Find out everything and store it away until you need it as you work through things and acquire accomplishments and lessons on your way to success.

Each thing you learn brings you closer to success and I believe that everyone can succeed, with the proper training. It just seems so many who have acquired the right lessons don’t put them to use. They don’t develop the habits necessary to work their way down the path to their dreams.

What’s stopping you now? Lack of health seems to be the only reason why a person might not be able to succeed and even that can be beaten. People can overcome all sorts of handicaps. All you need is determination, grit, and the will to do it.

Grit and will can take you anywhere you want to go. The best asset anyone can have is will power. You can be poor today and be wealthy in just a short time, but your main asset will always be that will power, not money. Money is nice, but you can gain more with a strong will than you can buy with money.

Of course, you shouldn’t expect smooth sailing all the time, even if you’ve succeeded and developed the proper habits. Journeys always have rough patches. Go with them, work through all the troubles. Each one teaches you something new, even if you don’t succeed in overcoming them.

You can find a way around them, if nothing else seems to work. Don’t let them cause you to stop and fail. Concentrate on your successes and the pleasures of what you’re doing. They’ll appear again and your journey will smooth out.

Setbacks are another lesson. You’ll learn more as you struggle with them and gain more confidence as your successes grow and your life becomes what you dreamed. Each problem is a new lesson that helps you along. You’re succeeding and your goals are becoming realities.

Please, leave your comment and let me know if this makes sense to you.

And now I would like to invite you to claim the special report “The Hidden Truth About Making Money Online” when you visit:

Don't Quit

Don't Quit

When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;

Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worse, that you must not quit.

How to Optimize a Landing Page

How to Optimize a Landing Page

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

A landing page serves as a bridge between the marketing message that brings visitors to your website and the site functionality that enables those visitors to take action, such as filling out a lead form or making a purchase. In essence, it’s your organization’s first impression to the online community. In today’s market, first impressions are tough to overcome, especially when the competition is just one click away. The old saying holds true, you only get one chance to make a good first impression – so don’t blow it. Here are quick and easy steps to ensure your landing page meets customer expectations.

Steps

  1. Determine if there are any obstacles to scanning the page. Today’s rule of thumb is that a Pentium I-586 user connecting via dial-up should to be able to quickly see your landing page and complete its call to action. Can they? Double-check the page appearance in different browsers, paying special attention to video and flash, as they not only create distraction, but also build additional barriers for the user to overcome.
  2. Consider how hard it is to leave the page or get sidetracked. Check your headline. There’s not always a perfect headline, but there are a lot of bad ones. Most users will make the decision to stay or go within seconds of visiting your landing page. Your headline must catch the user’s attention immediately and compel them to keep reading. Unlike traditional website navigation, landing page navigation should make it difficult for a user to easily leave the page. Allowing website navigation on the landing page offers more exit options and may hurt the conversion rate. Another reason to remove the standard website navigation is to gain better control over what the visitor sees and interacts with on the page.
  3. Determine if the page has a fold. It’s recommended that any folds on your landing page be eliminated. However, if a fold is unavoidable, make sure it does not take away from the call to action – keep all important components above the fold. In addition, it’s okay to have multiple CTAs (calls-to-action) on one page, as long as the primary CTA is in the top position above the fold.
  4. Consider if you are gathering unnecessary data. Poorly constructed and unreasonably lengthy forms are still surprisingly common in today’s landing pages. Remember to keep the user in mind and optimize your forms to provide the best experience. Evaluate each form field to determine if the information requested is really necessary. To make the form better, allow:
    • The input cursor to hop to the next field after the current field is completed;
    • the user to tab around fields,
    • fields to be auto-populated where possible.

  5. Decide the amount of white space needed on the page. Studies show that white space improves the user experience and allows key messages to stand out. Your landing page should do the same. Evaluate every element on the page for its contribution to user conversion rate. If you don’t need it to get your message across, remove it. It may seem like more is always better. But if you take a step back and really give it some thought, is more really better? Don’t overload your users.
  6. Consider adding testimonials and a link to Privacy Policy on the page. Testimonials and privacy policies help create the necessary levels of trust required for today’s online businesses. Would you purchase an item from a site that did not have this information? In addition, if you have any awards or other forms of recognition, a landing page is a great place to highlight them and boost your corporate validation.
  7. Make it easy for the user. All buttons on the page need to be big, use full color, and be located above the page fold. Test to learn what colors and sizes work best but take baby steps and test one thing at a time, or you risk not understanding what exactly worked the magic.
  8. Analyze the time required to load the page. Pages that take too long to load produce “barely there” conversion rates, a poor user experience, and Google quality score issues. Use tools to check your page load times and make sure it takes less than 7.5 seconds to load.
  9. Examine the impact of using photography on the page. Images are probably the most controversial element of any page, but even more so for landing pages. Try testing stock imagery versus amateur photography. An image should compliment your messages, making the entire page look more professional.
  10. Ensure your landing page is avoided by search engine spiders. If you are creating multiple landing pages with only slight variations in text, it’s wise to ensure that these pages are kept away from search engine spiders. To prevent duplicate content penalties from search engines, make your general purpose landing page available for indexing, but use robots.txt or a robots meta tag to exclude other pages.

Tips

  • Employing these techniques can greatly improve the success of your company’s landing page and in return, increase sales conversion. Taking simple steps to increase the usability and appeal of your page can give your company the edge over competitors – and in these tough economic times, can make the difference for your business and its future.
  • Invest some time in testing and optimizing your company’s landing page. If done properly, it can offer a gateway to your business, giving customers the information they need to make purchasing decisions and delivering the essential sales information you need internally to run a successful business.

Warnings

  • If you make an obstacle to users getting to your information, they will leave. A good rule of thumb is that if more than 90% of users will click a single link, you should send all users there without forcing them to click on it. (The other 10% can click on a link from that page to go where they want).

7 Essential Twitter Tips

I received these Twitter tips from my Facebook friend Kevin Thomas. You can also follow him at the end of this article.
**********************************************************************************
Twitter Tips:

Tip #1: People buy from those they know, trust, and like. Salesmen chase people away. So don’t sell on Twitter, just make friends. Talk about anything funny, interesting, fun, what you like and don’t like, send out cool quotes. Then 1 out of 10 posts, invite them to your blog or website and ask their opinion on it, ask them to comment, or just share an informative site. You are gradually building relationships and becoming popular.

Tip #2: Use Twollo to follow people who tweet about topics within your target market.

Tip #3: Find someone in your area of business and follow his or her subscribers one at a time. About half will follow you back.

Tip #4: Use Tweet Later to send auto replies to people who follow you back. Say something friendly. Don’t just put a link in to your site. That will chase people away. Ask something about them.

Tip #5: Use Tweet later to schedule 5 tweets a day, or more, for the next month, and use the distribute feature to spread them out evenly throughout the month (only let one out of 5 or 10 be a link to a site of yours, the rest should be friendly info).

Tip #6: After you reach 2000 friends, Twitter only lets you follow 10% more than those who follow you back. Use Huitter to unfollow those who do not follow you back so that you can continue to follow new people in your target market.

Tip #7: Twitter is like a billboard that can create interest in you and your brand identity, and direct traffic to your Facebook site, or your blog, where they can get to know you better. Now that there is a relationship being established, you can direct them to your lead capture page, to sign up for your newsletter, or to an affiliate product that you sell.

I see a lot of people offering their business opportunity from the start. This will not work very well for two reasons: 1) They prospects don’t know and trust you yet; 2) You are not getting their info to follow up with. You won’t even know if anyone went to the site or not. You will need a lead capture page for your online marketing efforts to be effective, because the business is usually in the follow up.

Google’s Adwords and Yahoo’s Overture provide great advertising schemes that are very truly popular and assures great traffic. When one site features another sites link, they could provide one another with the traffic one site generates. The efforts are doubly beneficial because it would seem like both of you’re working to generate more traffic. The more links traded with more sites the more traffic could be expected.

3) Use Viral Marketing

Viral marketing allows you to spread the word about your company and product with no costs or if ever low costs only. This is a marketing method that can be quite sneaky; you can attach your company’s name, product or link to a certain media such as a funny video, entertaining game, an interesting article or a gossip or buzz. With this method, people get infected with the creativity and entertainment of the medium that they’ll pass it on to many people.

4) Search and use proper keywords or keyword phrases for your sites content
SEs look for certain keywords that they’d show in their results page. In doing so, having the right keyword and keyword phrase is a high requirement in ranking in high in search engine results. You could write your own content or you could hire someone to do it for you.

5) Write Articles that can lead traffic to your site

Submit articles to sites that would contain the same subject that your site deals in. If you sell car parts write press releases and articles about cars and car parts. Attach your sites description and services at the end of the article as well as the link.

6) Join forums and forum online communities

Capture a market and show your expertise and credibility. When you find a good foundation for your site, people will trust you and your site, and will pass on to many people their trust. Traffic will certainly increase because they know that you can provide what they need.

7) Lastly, Offer newsletters.

If many people know what you’re about and your existence is shared with many others, you’ll find a loyal traffic that can provide you with more traffic by recommendation. If you arouse the curiosity of your customers they would be pushed to help you with your traffic.

You Don't Really Pay for Things with Money

You don't really pay for things with money.

You pay for them with time.

"In five years, I'll have put enough away
to buy that vacation house we want.

Then I'll slow down."

That means the house will cost you five years ---
one-twelfth of your adult life.

Translate the dollar value of the house,
car, or anything else into time,
and then see if it's still worth it. ...

The phrase spending your time is not a metaphor.

It's how life works.

Hit Exchanges and Safelists

Many varieties of Traffic Exchanges are on the market with new ones being created on a regular basis. The two most popular are "Hit Exchanges" and "Safelists."

A "Hit Exchange" allows you to submit your website and then browse (surf) through other websites to earn credits so other members will view your website.

A "Safelist" is simply another type of traffic exchange. Rather than surfing a manual hit exchange, you are exchanging emails. It is safe from spam because all who are on the list have agreed to receive your emails.

The purpose of a Hit Exchange and Safelist are the same: to exchange traffic. "You look at my site, I look at yours."

Goal Setting Tips

The following broad guidelines will help you to set effective goals:

*State each goal as a positive statement: Express your goals positively - 'Execute this technique well' is a much better goal than 'Don't make this stupid mistake.'

*Be precise: Set a precise goal, putting in dates, times and amounts so that you can measure achievement. If you do this, you will know exactly when you have achieved the goal, and can take complete satisfaction from having achieved it.

*Set priorities: When you have several goals, give each a priority. This helps you to avoid feeling overwhelmed by too many goals, and helps to direct your attention to the most important ones.

*Write goals down: This crystallizes them and gives them more force. Keep operational goals small: Keep the low-level goals you are working towards small and achievable. If a goal is too large, then it can seem that you are not making progress towards it. Keeping goals small and incremental gives more opportunities for reward. Derive today's goals from larger ones.

*Set performance goals, not outcome goals: You should take care to set goals over which you have as much control as possible. There is nothing more dispiriting than failing to achieve a personal goal for reasons beyond your control. In business, these could be bad business environments or unexpected effects of government policy. In sport, for example, these reasons could include poor judging, bad weather, injury, or just plain bad luck. If you base your goals on personal performance, then you can keep control over the achievement of your goals and draw satisfaction from them.

*Set realistic goals: It is important to set goals that you can achieve. All sorts of people (employers, parents, media, society) can set unrealistic goals for you. They will often do this in ignorance of your own desires and ambitions. Alternatively you may set goals that are too high, because you may not appreciate either the obstacles in the way or understand quite how much skill you need to develop to achieve a particular level of performance.

SMART Goals:
A useful way of making goals more powerful is to use the SMART mnemonic. While there are plenty of variants, SMART usually stands for:

S Specific
M Measurable
A Attainable
R Relevant
T Time-bound

For example, instead of having “to sail around the world” as a goal, it is more powerful to say “To have completed my trip around the world by December 31, 2015.” Obviously, this will only be attainable if a lot of preparation has been completed beforehand!

Achieving Goals
When you have achieved a goal, take the time to enjoy the satisfaction of having done so. Absorb the implications of the goal achievement, and observe the progress you have made towards other goals. If the goal was a significant one, reward yourself appropriately. All of this helps you build the self-confidence you deserve!

With the experience of having achieved this goal, review the rest of your goal plans:

If you achieved the goal too easily, make your next goals harder.
If the goal took a dispiriting length of time to achieve, make the next goals a little easier.
If you learned something that would lead you to change other goals, do so.
If you noticed a deficit in your skills despite achieving the goal, decide whether to set goals to fix this. Failure to meet goals does not matter much, as long as you learn from it. Feed lessons learned back into your goal setting program.

Remember too that your goals will change as time goes on. Adjust them regularly to reflect growth in your knowledge and experience, and if goals do not hold any attraction any longer, then let them go.

Key points:
Goal setting is an important method of:
Deciding what is important for you to achieve in your life;
Separating what is important from what is irrelevant, or a distraction;
Motivating yourself; and
Building your self-confidence, based on successful achievement of goals.

If you don't already set goals, do so, starting now. As you make this technique part of your life, you'll find your career.

Traffic Generation with an Amazing Viral Idea

Let me start off by explaining the biggest benefit of providing your downline members with a viral prospecting system.

It boils down to this...
When you have a viral prospecting system in place for your team members, your downline has the potential to take on a life of its own and continue to grow effortlessly while you're focusing on more important things such as family and friends.

Ultimately I learned that being a successful sponsor involves providing some type of system that helps people build their business, not sitting around wondering why your downline isn't doing anything.

I guess the quote from Zig Ziglar holds true:
"You can have everything in life you want, if you just help enough other people get what they want."

The cold, hard Truth about MLMs

I made a promise to you in my last post that when I found a business that would work for everyone that I would return and share it with you.

I have been involved with many different online businesses. Too many to name. I have had varying degrees of success with them. Seems that when I found something that showed potential to earn me a decent income, well something seemed to go wrong. Sound familiar? I have tried just about all forms of money-making ventures that you can think of online.

In the past few months I have researched countless multi-level-marketing programs to see if any of them will really benefit the novice and/or intermediate marketer. My findings have been dismal at best. Lots of promises, but limited results. So my suggestion is to stay away from this type of online business. Like I already said, I am directing this blog message to the little guy. Those heavy hitters with established lead/mailing lists will prey on you, and eat you alive. After all, that's how they earn money, by suckering you into their MLM! They will say things like this... "guaranteed spill over, spill under, blah blah, will make you lots of money" or "just join me and do nothing because my Co-op will build your business for you". Yeah right. I can not in good conscious recommend any of them as a primary business.

Right now I am looking at different kinds of internet opportunities, ones that strongly emphasize helping others to be successful first. I will elaborate on them more in future posts, if they measure up to my criteria of integrity and profitability.
